HOW TO TRAIN PEOPLE
TO USE COMPUTERS
(a one-day workshop)
This is a train-the-trainer workshop for those who must train others to use software (either mainframe or PC). Practice the basics of getting learners involved, making training less boring, using documentation in training and using other methods appropriately. How to design and evaluate this type of training are covered in the two-day version of this workshop.

- Teach a 5-minute lesson to a partner
Unit 3: Prepare to Train
- Focus on achievable training objectives
- Use appropriate training methods
- Determine how much time is required to build a skill
- Practice a pacing technique to avoid boredom
Unit 4: Computer Training Methods
- Use basic and follow-up questions to promote understanding
- Discussion techniques to enhance learning
- Give effective feedback to learners
- Avoid overuse of lectures
- How to coach learners one-on-one
- Appropriately correct a learner's mistakes
